How "super" is a green superfood?

I had to go to a local health food store today to pick up some supplements.  While I was there, I (obviously) had to browse the entire store.  Suddenly, something caught my eye.  Green Super Food.  It's a powder that you mix with water or juice, etc.  My husband and I recently watched a documentary about nutrition in America (thank you Netflix).  One of the people being interviewed was talking about the amazing properties of "green super food."  This includes things like Spirulina, Chlorella, Wheat Grass and Barley Grass.  Well, lo and behold, this product had them all!  Overtaken by the sudden belief that my health would be in ruins without it, I had to buy it!

I returned to my office and bravely mixed myself a cup with water.  It had aromas of grass with some earthy undertones.  (Do you like how I can make this sound like a glass of wine?)  The first sip was a little off-putting as it's a pretty unique flavor.  It smells like grass and earth for a reason.  As I continued to drink it, however, it really wasn't bad.  You just have to get used to it.  The texture is a little grainy, but it's supposed to have lots of natural fiber in it, so I suppose that's to be expected.  Now we'll see if it can live up to all of it's hype.  I'll drink one scoop a day for 30 days and then post to let you know if I feel like I'm a whole new woman, with my very own personal fountain of youth!

I also picked up some fish oil while I was at the store, but that's a story for another time.  It's so easy to get caught up in the various supplements, herbs and powders.  Do you use supplements, and how do they work for you?
